Trying for more balance.

I spend way too much time reading feeds. So here's a little update for you.

It's getting colder up here, which always makes me want to cook more. We have plenty of leftovers, but still.

I'm getting over a gross cold that makes the days slip by. I should probably be in bed, but I'm at that almost recovered stage, where I'm too bored to stay in bed.

I've been considering getting a smart phone, as now a majority of my the friends I see on a regular basis have one. The old promise was to reward myself with one once I got a real job, and part of me wants to stick to that, but a lot of me wants to get familiar with new tech. I'm still running XP, for goodness sake. I'm not an intentional Luddite, I swear. Just lazy.

Sorry for the twitter weirdness, I got a little paranoid for a bit, and went private, even though most of my followers are strangers anyway. Fixed that. I was considering keeping it private so I could do more shouting, but nothing's private on the internet anymore.

My landlady has decorated the house for Halloween, which includes a candy bowl by the mailboxes. Luckily the neighbors don't like Smarties (the chalky ones, not the chocolate ones), which means more for me and the boy.

A friend got a ton of matsutake mushrooms that she's going to share with me. Hooray! I have no idea what to do with them, but it's time to comb the feeds for recipes.

I swear, I only read things that are in or linked in Google Reader now. It's just so efficient, but then I have to at least be aware that I only get my news from a very liberal (sometimes shouty) blog (good old Slog), and that other things are happening in the world. Like those Chilean miners. I know it's a big deal, because I listen to NPR during my commute, but it's even surfacing on Facebook. Interesting. I guess it's a bit of good news to combat the pink sludge spill.
