Olive Bars?

Olive bars.

Is this a Northwestern thing (I've only noticed them in Oregon and Seattle), a yuppie thing, or a new trend that I missed while I was away? Now, I like olives, and I'll probably break down and buy some for snacking, but it seems a bit pretentious to me. An entire section devoted to fresh olives, as long as the salad bar.

It's almost as strange as the full service gas stations in Oregon and parts of northern California. I'll post a mini rant about that later.
