it's not gravy...it's poutine sauce.. there are even variations such as BBQ poutine sauce or italian poutine sauce...gravy doesn't work the same.. and why would you trust wikipedia to get it correct?
poutine rocks. and the sauce tasted like gravy to me. at least the stuff we used to get over the border in montreal...
veloute sauce sounds like just a fancy french word for "thick gravy." (from http://montrealpoutine.com/recipes.html)...
but i will refrain from stepping on any more canadian toes. :-P
i also miss gravy fries. but not the kind with cheese whiz on 'em at the same time. that made even my heart groan a little harder, trying to pump through the grease.
